The Country House
Sonoma Valley is known around the world for its spectacular views. The Country House showcases views unlike any property in Sonoma Valley. Seated atop Sonoma Mountain, this three bedroom, three bath home is the ultimate escape.
Upon entry to the home you are greeted by the Great Room which has a massive fireplace, grand piano, vaulted ceilings and luxurious décor. There are wall to wall sliding glass doors that open onto to a deck that is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine on summer evenings, have a relaxing breakfast in wine country and plenty of space for lounging on a chaise with a good book. Here we find breathtaking views of sprawling vineyards and the mountains. The home has numerous outdoor dining spaces.
Above the Great Room you will find a lofted library and office. There is a television room with leather couch, chairs and rich fabrics to cozy up and watch your favorite show.
The kitchen comes fully equipped with all the essentials for preparing any meal, including ample prep space, a professional range and side by side refrigerator and freezer. At its end is a table area with spectacular views. A lovely contemplative spot where you may enjoy your morning coffee any time of year.
There is a lovely formal dining room which seats 10. There are two sets of French doors that open up onto a patio overlooking a small canyon.
The massive master suite has a regal fireplace and a king size bed. The master bath features a jacuzzi tub, a spacious double shower with bench seating and restroom with bidet. The bathtub looks over the sweeping views of the valley below, making a soak in this tub an absolute luxury. The second bedroom features a queen sized bed and French doors that open to one of the quiet outdoor patio spaces. The third bedroom is detached and offers a queen sized bed, full bath, kitchenette and treadmill.
From the back deck you descend down a set of stairs and you will find another sitting area with a fire pit and lounging chairs. A few steps further leads you to the hot tub on a small deck, perched out on the tip of the hill so as to best capture the phenomenal view while relaxing in the spa. Wrap around the other side of the hill and you will find the absolutely gorgeous pool area. The large square shaped pool has a small waterfall that cascades down from the dining area, seated below a pergola that provides beautifully filtered light. Here the patio has large couches and chairs, a dining table and a built in outdoor kitchen.
This home is one of a kind and will not disappoint. If you are looking for an escape in the wine country, look no further, The Country House has it all.
Please be aware that this home is seated at the top of the mountain and the one lane road winds around and can be quite steep in places. It is very rural and is not a location that limos or wine buses would want to go. It is very much a country home, and if staying high above Sonoma in the absolute peace and quiet of nature suits you, this is the home for you.
Dogs are welcome with pre-approval and do require a pet fee if approved.

Fabulous views!
by Lisa B.The house was perfect for our family. The views were fabulous. The road was pretty steep, but nothing to worry about. Each time we went out we got more used to the route and it wasn’t an issue. The location is in the perfect place. You can easily travel to Napa and Sonoma. We stopped in Sausalito on the way from SFO, for lunch also. Beautiful scenery and a great house with everything you need. We went on the wine train and visited vineyards - Sterling and Sebastiani. We enjoyed a trip to Sonoma town also. Perfect five night get away for us and our grown children. The Glen Ellen market was great for gathering our groceries on the way up to the house. Five stars!

The Country House will take your breath away!
by John C.The family loved our stay at the Country House and it was a great way to celebrate our 30th anniversary. The property is a real treasure atop the Sonoma Mountain and the panoramic views of the bucolic Sonoma Valley are breathtaking with images to last a lifetime. It's so beautiful you won't want to leave the grounds, but Star Restaurant is only 15 minutes away if you want a great dinner out . Its a windy trek up the hill, but certainly worth it. I'd strongly recommend this property for a fun weekend getaway!

Spectacular house and views
by Roger V.My wife and I along with our two adult children and their spouses spent a week we will long remember in the Country House in Glen Ellen CA. Most everything about the place was perfect for our family gathering. It is a spectacular house situated in a beautiful setting up high on Sonoma Mountain with a sweeping view of the valley below and the hills all around. We never tired of looking at the fantastic views. Despite its very private setting, it's location was very good for us to take day trips to many wineries in both Sonoma and Napa, to the ocean, to go paddle boarding at a lake and to visit historical sites in the area. We would then end each day sitting on one of the expansive decks sipping local wines and watching the sun go down behind the hills while the fog moved slowly up the valley from the west. It was enchanting. And if that wasn't enough, taking a dip in the large pool or soaking in the hot tub, both with great views also, helped round out each day. The house is beautifully furnished and very well-supplied with kitchenware, towels, guest robes, and other amenities you typically would enjoy in a fine hotel. It was clean and organized well for our arrival. Most of us enjoy cooking and it was easy to do in the spacious and well-appointed kitchen. We also used one of the two outdoor gas BBQs when we grilled for dinner. The house also offered a first-rate audio and video setup as well as a large supply of games to keep us entertained. In summary, all six of us rated our stay at the Country House as top of the line and several even rated it as the best experience of all the things we did and saw during our two weeks of visiting the Bay Area.

Awesome property!

The house is beautiful as well as functional. The kitchen was great. The pool and hot tub were relaxing. We definitely spent more time at the house than we originally planned. The drive to the vineyards were a little long, but very much worth it. We loved The Country House!

Wow! We knew from the photos this place would be awesome but in reality totally blew us away!
by Jeffrey L.As you make your way up the winding tree lined driveway you get the sense you are heading to someplace special.....and you'd be right! Once you walk through the front door into the great room the panoramic views are priceless! We came to Sonoma to enjoy the vineyards but found that we were equally excited to get back to the Country House. The wraparound deck with all of the seating options is where our family began and ended each day. Actually, one of our sons started each day watching the sunrise while sitting in the Jacuzzi. We ate most of our meals at the Country House which was made easy because of the well equipped kitchen and the outdoor grills. We highly recommend shopping at the Glen Ellen Market as we found this place to have a good variety and high quality products. The pool was a huge hit with our family and the Jacuzzi and koi pond nooks were nice additions to our experience. Overall, the Country House was comfortable and inviting. We would highly recommend this property to any group looking for a slice of heaven in wine country!

Private, fantastic views, spacious, well-appointed
by Richard G.We rented this property for a holiday with a total of three couples. Everyone was very pleased with their respective rooms. We cooked two dinners using the BBQ on the main deck and the oven in the kitchen. We had all the dishes, utensils, bowls, plates, glasses and even some cooking ingredients we needed and ate outside while listening to music and enjoying the view. The star fall after the sunset was great! We had two dinners in Glen Ellen which is only a 15 minute drive away. Highly recommend both the Glen Ellen Inn and the Fig Cafe for a meal. The Glen Ellen Market has all the food, ingredients and wine you will need for any meal you choose to make at the property. 30 minute drive to The Town of Sonoma. Look into Uber if you want to enjoy the wine without concern about drinking and driving. Not as convenient to see places in Napa Valley; between 45-60 minutes each way to get to Napa depending on where you are going. 45-60 minutes to Hot Air Balloon ride departure sites and the Russian River Kayak & Canoe site. If a spectacular view and the option of making your own meals is part of the plan, you can do far worse than renting The Country House. Definitely recommended!

Incredible Property
by Vanessa L.The pictures look great, but they actually don't do it justice. The views are breathtaking! The whole property is well taken care of and is really the perfect retreat. It has the best stocked kitchens out of any property we've ever rented. It has all the pots, pans, dishes, cooking utensils/gadgets that you could possible want. We also really appreciated the high quality knives since we cooked up a storm while we were there. The pool and hot tub are great and a perfect way to spend the day. Lastly, we really enjoyed working with Woodfield Properties. They provided timely and detailed information leading up to the trip. They are extremely professional and we felt very well taken care of. We hope to make a visit to this property an annual tradition.

Absolutely Amazing View and So Relaxing!!

We shared this property with two other couples and everyone was blown away when we arrived at how spectacular and spacious the house is. And the view is priceless!! We even cancelled dinner out one night to cookout and relax at the pool. Everything you need is in the kitchen. Nearly any spice and condiment as well. The Glen Ellen Market has all the food, ingredients and wine you will need for any meal you desire. Yes, the ride up was a little steep – but we all got used to it and it is well worth it! We have already recommended this place to some friends. Can’t wait to come back. And oh, the pool was amazing – quiet and private. The best!!

Best view ever!
by Lila H.Not exaggerating, this property has hands down the best view of any rental I've stayed at. Perfect spot to relax with a glass of wine and a few friends, great fully equipped kitchen, total privacy. It feels like you're a world away; even though Santa Rosa is just over the hill, all you see is the ridges all the way to the ocean. One caveat, this place is for relaxing, and there isn't any large open space or hiking, just the lovely lawns and gardens around the house, so if you're bringing a dog, be aware that the road in is the only option for a walk, and it's very hilly! We definitely look forward to coming back here sometime.

The Best Kind of Remote
by Alison R.Wow. At a time when we are all still either staying home or close to, this was the best remote vacation ever. A good 10 minutes UP from the main road, the road is not for the weary. And don't forget the milk as you won't want to go back to the store. But the steep mountain road makes for great exercise in the morning. The home is really something. The views make you feel on top of the world. The outdoor spaces provides sun, shade or protection from the wind. You can just move around all day depending on the weather. The pool, although cold is so wonderful and the trellised jasmine on the terrace welcomes you with gorgeous aroma. The hot tub is also perched on the hillside with beautiful views and so relaxing. The home is very welcoming and kitchen well appointed. It is the perfect place for cooking, dining and having quality time with family and friends. Mornings were spent hiking at near by areas, poolside in the afternoon and either cooking or going out to the fantastic local restaurants. The management makes it very easy, good communications and they have great recommendations if needed. The pool furniture and some of the indoor furniture could use a little love and replacement. But if you are looking for a place to write your memoir and enjoy truly being away from it all, The Country Home is the place!!

Amazing Stay!

Great internet connection - was able to work remotely no problem. Drive up was a little challenging but not too terrible. My wife who is very prone to motion sickness handled it just fine.

Spectacular panoramic view.
by Mayra M.This is a unique property with a spectacular panoramic view. I am very thankful to the owners for sharing their piece of Shangri-la. The view from the pool and hot tub make the steep drive worth it. The house is very comfortable and stocked with all the amenities. We went with two toddlers and they had a wonderful time there. I recommend it for families with children. Please keep in mind that there are strict rules regarding the number of guests admitted so you should think of this home as a quiet retreat and not a party home.
